Tea in the Garden, located in Townsville, Australia, is a fashion and lifestyle brand that offers a thoughtfully curated collection of contemporary designer fashion and preloved garments for hire. Our goal at Tea in the Garden is to allow customers to enjoy a diverse, rotating wardrobe without the commitment of long-term ownership or the financial burden of purchasing new items.

In addition to our fashion offerings, Tea in the Garden embodies a spirit of appreciation. We appreciate and celebrate the simple pleasures of our homes, gardens, family, friends and our wider community. An appreciation of the art of tea drinking is a definite! 

Not yet, but it is something we may do/would love to do in time.

Our standard rental period is six days. Ten-day hire is also available.  When booking your rental garment through our website, you have the option to choose your preferred time frame.

You can select your hire dates and book your outfit via our availability calendar. Once full payment is made through our online booking system, your booking will be finalised and secured. Please note that we are unable to accept bookings made via email or social media platforms.

You will be charged at the time of securing your booking.

Real ID is an ID verification service. Some of Tea in the Garden's garments request identity verification with Real ID to proceed with a booking.

If you need to complete a Real ID verification please allow extra time to complete this process. You will need your driver's licence or another form of nationally accepted ID ready. Also, ensure you have good lighting as Real ID needs to scan your licence using your webcam or phone camera.

We use Express Post with Australia Post. As we are posting from Townsville, which is classified as a Regional area, it may take four to six business days to reach you. Please make sure when placing your booking that you book the date that you need the hire garment. Express Post tracking is also provided to keep you updated while your parcel is in transit.  

If you are in Townsville you just need to select "Pick Up" as your preference when you finalise your cart and payment.

You can pick up your hire outfit from our Hermit Park office on the allocated day of collection. This would usually be the first day of your hire period. We will be in touch after your booking to provide you with our address and your pick up time.

On or before the last day or your hire period, you can return your outfit at a pre-arranged time to our Main Office in Hermit Park.

As we are an online fashion hire service, we don’t offer a try on service.

Our garments are absolutely genuine, and we provide a 100% guarantee.

ReCollect comprises Jane’s preloved garments purchased from designer and department stores between 1998 and 2019. Additionally, Jane also sourced some items through eBay over the years, including favourites from Alannah Hill, Collette Dinnigan, and Polo Ralph Lauren.

Short answer: Spot steam – yes. Ironing – no.

Long answer: Our goal is to ensure that your garment is in a ready-to-wear condition when it is handed to you, neatly placed in its garment bag. We understand that certain fabrics like cotton and linen may develop wrinkles during transit. If your dress has slight creases or wrinkles, we kindly request that you refrain from ironing it. Instead, we recommend using a hand steamer on low heat to gently spot steam the affected areas. Alternatively, you can hang the garment in a steamy bathroom for approximately 10 minutes, allowing the fibres to relax and the fabric creases to release naturally.

Please refer to the accompanying "How to take care of me" garment card for specific care instructions, in case steaming is not recommended. Please avoid ironing the garment, as accidents can occur (even to the most skilled ironers), and any resulting damage will be your responsibility.

All items are dry cleaned, pressed, and presented to you on a dress hanger, neatly enclosed in a protective garment bag.  Prior to this, each garment is carefully checked to ensure it is in excellent condition.

No need! We do all the laundering as part of our service. However, there are a few steps we kindly request you to follow when returning your garment. Firstly, please put your worn, folded if possible, (unlaundered) garment in the fabric drawstring bag we provide. Secondly, place the drawstring bag inside your garment bag and return it to us for laundering.

We understand everyone wants to look their best. To ensure the preservation of our garments, we kindly request that you refrain from tanning 48 hours before wearing them. Tanning marks, heavy makeup stains and strong perfume on our garments will be considered as Major Damage, leading to potential penalties. In the event of staining, our dry cleaning service must clean the garment several times to eliminate unwanted marks and odours. Unfortunately, this process can degrade the delicate fabric and shorten the garment's lifespan. Please avoid contact with makeup, fake tan, perfume, sharp objects, and jewellery.

At Tea in the Garden, we carry a range of sizes, accommodating size 8 to 14. Our aim is to offer one or more sizes for each recent or current season garment. 

It's worth noting that some of our items may fit differently, either running larger or smaller. We have made a note of this if there is flexibility in sizing. For instance, if a size 10 is runs large, we let you know in the dress fit section e.g., This dress runs large and would suit a size 8 to 10.

We have provided a Brand Fitting Guide link on the garment page that lists body measurements for the brand. These measurements have been obtained directly from the designer or brand website. You may already be familiar with or own pieces from the brand or designer and in that case you should feel confident in your size choice.

If you don't see a size chart this means the brand has not provided a body measurement chart for their garments (i.e., centimetres or inches).

Our fitting guide is also helpful with recommendations on whether the garment is true to size, runs small or runs large; as well as letting you know the model's height and what size they are wearing.

If you wish to make any changes to your order, including changing your booking or the pickup or drop-off date, please email us as soon as possible at hello@teainthegarden.com.au

Feel free to change your mind and cancel your booking without any issues. If you choose to cancel your garment rental within 3 days/72 hours prior to the Collection Date, we will gladly offer you a complete refund, with only a $10 administration processing fee deducted. However, if you cancel with less than three days' notice, we will provide you with a credit note after deducting a $50 administration processing fee.

By renting a garment from Tea in the Garden, you, as the customer, accept full responsibility for the rented garment throughout the rental period. This responsibility forms an integral part of our garment hire agreement, which you can read here: ("Terms of Service").

In the event of damage, loss, or theft of the garment, whether by you or any third party, you will be held liable for the RRP price of the garment as well as the additional penalties listed in our garment hire agreement. 

Should the garment be damaged we kindly request that you do not attempt to clean, repair, or alter the garment without obtaining prior consent from Tea in the Garden. We have our own team of cleaning and repair specialists to handle such matters.

If the dress incurs staining or damage, we ask that you email us promptly and provide photographs of the affected areas. When returning a stained rental garment, please include detailed information about the nature of the stain, which will help us to determine the most appropriate course of action.
